People are story-building creatures. We tell stories to others; we tell stories to ourselves. Stories help us give shape and meaning to our lives. They engage us and entertain us.

There are countless ways to tell stories, and many forms of storytelling. From plays to novels to television to new kinds of cell phone content to massive multi-player online games, narrative matters.

However, how best to tell a story is shaped by the needs of the form as well as cultural and historical expectations. What works on a half-hour of TV might not work that well on a 3 minute video clip. And the requirements of a feature film are different than what one needs to make a successful massive multi-player online game or a novel.

This site is about looking at all the ways we can tell stories in all the forms available: What works, what doesn’t, what can be stolen between different media and what should be avoided.
